About Alex Crump

Alex is a full-time freelance creative. He is a member of the professional bodies the ‘Association of Illustrators (AOI) and Society for Storytellers. He lives with his family in the Swindon area and is writing this in the third person to give the impression of being grown up.

When he was young he enjoyed and drawing pictures and dressing up to tell stories. After a hiatus, where he experienced working with children and animals, he’s now burning the candle at both ends on his creative endeavours!

He has worked on over 50 published books, some working with authors self publishing for the first time others with experienced writers contracted to publishing houses.

Some of his more memorable commissions have been ongoing work with former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Anthea Turner and her sister Wendy (former presenter of ‘Pet Rescue’) on their ‘Underneath the Underground’ series. The Great Bustard Group (on Salisbury plain) where he survived a face to face encounter with ‘Fergus’ the flightless ‘Tigerbird’ and having his work supporting a Phd. thesis on snake bite education adopted by local Governments in India.

When not in the studio he likes to be out and about in the Wiltshire countryside with his family and playing his guitar and mandolin (but not all at the same time).
